Two gameweeks isn't a season, and anyone telling you they've "solved" FPL by matchday 2 is lying to you (or about to eat a very expensive humble pie by GW6). But two gameweeks IS enough to start squinting at a few things properly, so here's what's actually jumping out from the numbers rather than just the vibes.

Arsenal look like the safest defensive assets in the game right now. Two clean sheets from two, conceding nothing at home to Coventry or away at Villa — if you're stacking defenders for the double-up on clean sheet points plus attacking returns, this is exactly the kind of nailed-on backline the whole game revolves around building your squad on. It won't stay this cheap in ownership for long once the rest of the FPL world clocks it.

Manchester United and Manchester City have gone from "concerning openers" to "remembered they're actually good" inside a week. United's 2-0 loss at Hull looked like a genuine crisis for about seven days, right up until Bruno Fernandes put in one of the great individual gameweek hauls (hat-trick, assist, 23 points) in a 5-2 demolition of Ipswich. City needed even less time to remind everyone — 4-1 away at Palace, Haaland doing Haaland things and Cherki now with returns from both of his starts. Neither team looks like a side that's actually in trouble, whatever GW1 suggested.

Spurs are the opposite story. Beaten by Brentford, then beaten at home by Newcastle — no wins, no points, and precious little to show going forward across two games. If you're holding Spurs assets waiting for it to click, the numbers aren't giving you much to hang onto yet.

On the differential front, keep an eye on Hull City. Beating Manchester United and then following it up with a win over Coventry is not what anyone had written down before the season started, and their goalkeeper Tzolakis has quietly picked up double-digit points in back-to-back weeks off clean sheet contributions.
